Welcome to the Governors pages for St Cross School!
At St Cross we are fortunate to have a strong and dedicated team of Governors who work extremely hard throughout the year in partnership with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to ensure the smooth running of the school. On behalf of the Board of Governors, I welcome this opportunity to briefly introduce you to the work the Governing Body undertakes to ensure that every child is helped to realise their potential within a creative learning environment, and where everyone is valued and respected.
The Governing Body has a range of powers and duties laid down by various Education Acts. In the main, these responsibilities relate to:
* Ensuring clarity of Catholic vision, ethos and strategic direction;
* Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance and Catholic character of the school and its pupils, and for the internal organisation, management, and control of the School, including performance management of staff; and
* Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
Our Governing Body meets each term to implement these responsibilities. In addition to these formal meetings there are a series of informal sub-committee meetings dealing with more specific issues such as resources, school improvement plans and finance. Governors also have responsibilities for areas such as Pupil Premium, PE and Sports Premium, and also Safeguarding.
Governors adopt, review and monitor a range of policies that govern the operation of the school including Health and Safety, Behaviour, Curriculum and Performance Management.
If you wish to contact the Chair of Governors, you can do so via the school office or by email to email@example.com
