Information For Year 4 Parents
Please help your child by listening to them read for about 20 minutes each night and sign their homework diary on a daily basis. Your involvement is invaluable for supporting your child’s development. In order for children to gain the most out of reading ask them comprehension questions about the text they are reading, check their understanding and help them to foster a love of reading.
Spellings will be handed out on a Monday ready for a spelling test the following Monday. A hard copy of spellings will be stuck in your child’s homework book.
Every Monday, your child will receive:
- Times tables
They will also have two pieces of RE every half term. In addition to this, across the school a project based homework will be set. It will relate to the current topic. Your child should complete at least one of the given projects over each half term. During the last week of term presentations will be held for the children to showcase their hard work.
In Year 4, children will have PE on a Monday and Thursday. Please always be prepared with an indoor and outdoor kit and ensure that children are not sharing kits with siblings.
Indoor and outdoor PE kit: Navy shorts, blue T-Shirt and plimsolls, school tracksuit or navy tracksuit bottoms/school jumper and trainers – all labelled please!
I will endeavour to organise an enrichment activity for each topic to engage the children and give them rich learning experiences. In the autumn term the children will be invited on a school trip to Hampton Court Palace. In the spring term the children will be given the opportunity to take part in an Egyptian History off the Page day held in school. As well as this, the children will be able to partake in whole school activities such as termly art days, science week and world book day.
I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Please do not hesitate to make an appointment to see me if you have any queries.
