Switch Off’ Week Evaluation 4/12/17
Last Week, (4.12.17) St Cross took part in a ‘Switch Off’ week to encourage our school community to save energy.
We became Energy Detectives and monitored the light use across the school at break times and lunch times. We really enjoyed doing this and we felt good because we were helping the environment.
We had to check that the different areas of the school were not in use and then tick our monitoring sheet if the lights were off. We think that St Cross did really well and here are our results:-
As you can see Reception, Year 3, Year 4 and the Hall had the lights switched off when the room was not in use all week. So well done!
Alongside this we also took part in a ‘No Power Hour’ on Wednesday morning. Every area of the school turned off all power for one hour.
Here are some of the children’s thoughts:
Reception – “It made us feel funny because it was dark.” – Gracie
Year 1 – “Excited because we spent an hour in the dark and we like sitting in the dark.” Eva and Charlie
Year 2 – “Felt happy because we were doing something good for the world.” – Anna
“It was a good idea because we can do it at home and save money.” – Daisy
Year 3 – “I felt scared because it was dark everywhere.” Sam
“It was very weird because it was new.” – Ava
Year 4 – “It was terribly difficult, I couldn’t see anything.” – Carmen
“It was relaxing.” – Alessio
